TV director Bernadine Lim checks out whether it really is cool to be a Chinese Kiwi these days. Bro’ Town cartoonist Ant Sang, rap stars, fashion designers and artists wonder how far NZ has come since poll tax.
Bernadine is from a Chinese-Malaysian family. She moved to New Zealand at the age of 9 months, first to Whakatane, then Bell Block (near New Plymouth) and her family have now settled in Howick. Her father was a doctor, her mother a singing star.
Bernadine is a TV Director, who has worked as reporter for Asia Down Under and Nightline. She directed the well received Road To Athens documentary series and has also recently created programmes for the Discovery Channel. She did well at school (in the Chinese way), plays piano and is currently living in London.
