Screen Projects
The Gibson Group is one of the longest serving and largest screen production companies in NZ. We specialise in the production of feature films and a wide range of television programming (see our portfolio on this page), and our productions have sold in over 80 countries worldwide.
We produce our own projects as well as working with others filming in New Zealand – taking advantage of the newly enhanced screen incentives (including rebates of up to 40% for both film and television) called the NZ Screen Production Grants, the depth of experience of NZ’s cast and crew (we frequently work with both Oscar and Emmy winners), our magnificent locations and our world-famous straightforwardness. We have recently produced work for the BBC and ITV as well as previously working for Swedish and German companies shooting in NZ.
The company also has a fully equipped offline and online post-production facility in-house, and a close relationship with both Avalon Studios and Undergroundsound .
After more than 37 years, the company entered a new phase in 2014 when 3 new employee-owners bought the business from Dave Gibson as he became CEO at the NZ Film Commission. The new owners are focused on growth from the company’s strong base and bring vigour, enthusiasm and new ideas to that mission.
Feature film development
We develop and produce film projects for New Zealand and international markets. Currently our film development slate is full, so we are not accepting creative submissions.
