Series
Cover Story is a primetime drama series which centres on a team of television journalists working on a weekly current-affairs programme that screens on the privately-owned Pacific Television (PTV) channel.
Telefeature
The two-hour telefeature of Cover Story introduces us to the Cover Story team. It is centred on Amanda Robbins (Katie Wolfe) who has been lured back to Wellington from Australia by PTV Chief Executive, Martin Woolf (Jonathan Hendry) who wants her Rottweiller qualities to raise the controversial show's ratings. Woolf appoints Amanda without consulting Bernard Fry (John Sumner), the producer of Cover Story. Bernard, along with the rest of the staff are appalled by Amanda's tabloid-esque style, her "blood on the road" approach.
