Facing Two Fronts: the fight for respect

National Archives of Australia Digital Interactive Exhibition

Indigenous Australians have served in the Australian military in significant, yet largely unrecognised roles since Federation. For some, military service provided a platform to advocate for the civil rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Through the lens of military service and the stories of those who served, this digital interactive exhibition explores Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s fight for social justice.

Our team took recorded footage from Goorie Vision (http://www.goorievision.com) and created a series of stirring video portraits which sit at the heart of a digital interactive used to showcase the extraordinary images and records from the National Archives collection.

The exhibition sits alongside the Shrine of Remembrance – Indigenous Australians at War exhibition and will travel to Darwin later this year.
